Story Starters
The Goal
Promote New Zealand Post’s Book Awards for Children & Young Adults.
The Idea
For most kids, starting the story is the hardest part.
For three consecutive years, we helped New Zealand Post’s Book Awards for Children & Young Adults turn blank pages into possibilities. Using Story Dice, Story Spinners, and illustrated Story Cards, we gave children unexpected prompts, characters, locations, and ideas to spark their imagination and get stories moving.
The response was so strong from teachers, parents, and students that the tools went back into production multiple times.
Story Spinners
Story Cards
We created packs of illustrated cards featuring story prompts and questions designed to kickstart new adventures and ideas.
Story Dice
With each roll of the five “magic” dice, children discovered a genre, location, object, character and key word they could use as inspiration to write a story. Five dice, six faces = 7776 story ideas.
Become part of the story
The Goal
Promote New Zealand Post’s sponsorship of Writers & Readers Week.
The Idea
What if the city itself became part of the story?
During Writers & Readers Week, we installed motion-triggered speakers across Wellington that transformed ordinary locations into scenes from unexpected narratives. As people moved through the city, stories unfolded around them, turning familiar streets, alleyways, and public spaces into moments of drama, tension, and surprise.
OOH, print & installations
The idea extended across OOH, print, cinema, and installations, with each placement containing its own location-specific story for audiences to uncover.
The campaign generated national news coverage, lifted sponsorship awareness from 36% to 50%, and helped Writers & Readers Week sell out in record time.
